Are you tired of what you see going on in the world around you? Do you want to make a change for yourself, and the future? One voice can make a difference. Just like a drop of rain in an ocean, the ripples can be felt far away. Take a stand for what you believe in, and make your voice heard. You can start today! Read your
local papers, visit your state's Legislative Website, write to your representatives, join an activism group, or work alone.

We have gathered some Information and links here to help you get started. Don't suffer in silence... Stand up and be counted, here is your chance to change the world for the better!

GETTING STARTED:

Whether you are wanting to speak out for Open Records, or any other issue, chances are there are already people who feel as you do in regards to the subject. The best thing you can do is to acquaint yourself with those who are already involved. Spend some time on the Internet searching for Websites that deal with your topic.

Since we are mostly concerned with Open Records Activism here at TAAP, we have compiled links and information that will help you get started speaking out against Closed Birth Records Legislation. However, the tips and tricks we provide here can be applied to virtually any issue you wish to become involved with.

ORGANIZATIONS:

MAILING LISTS:

Mailing Lists are an excellent way to stay connected to those
within the Adoption Activism Community. Be prepared though,
you will come across a very wide variety of views and opinions on
these lists. Also some lists generate a large amount of e-mail. Visit
each lists homepage to find out how you can tailor the list to your
needs.

For Mailing lists served by EGroups.com (formerly Onelist.com), if
you find the amounts of mail to be too much, there are options
such as a daily digest, or Web Only/No Mail... be aware though,
some lists do not supply an archive so if you choose the No Mail
option, you may have no idea what is going on!

Adoption_Activism_USA
TAAP's very own Internet Mailing List. Be notified when content
changes at this website, and interact with other Adoption Activists
who are working around the country for Open Records, and other
Family and Adoption Related Issues.

GENERAL POLITICAL INFORMATION:

Just because election day is over doesn't mean it's time to sit back and relax till the next cycle! Get involved in your local and state governments and/or politically oriented organizations. One person lending a hand to others already working to achieve the same goals can be a tremendous boost. Many times in many of these organizations there are a small number of activists who are shouldering a brunt of the work. Many times even 1 or 2 hours a week, heck a month, can help these people greatly. Please consider getting more involved. As this election proves, every vote counts. Make sure yours stands for what you believe in.

We have accumulated here Links to Various Politically Oriented
Websites. We hope it will help you become a more informed and
active participant in America's Democratic Electoral Process.
