HOW
TO WRITE TO YOUR ELECTED OFFICIALS
The following are some tips for you to use when writing to an
elected Legislator.
1. Always
be polite.
The legislator who opposes your bill today may
be in agreement with you, perhaps on another bill in the future.
2. Always refer to the Bill Number and Name you are writing
about.
Try to do this early in your letter so they will be focused and
ready
to think about your position. Be sure to state the point of your
letter
early on as well.
3. Always refer to the Legislator using their proper titles,
and
addrees your letter accordingly.
Professionalism goes a long way in getting your point across.
